#Grate48 - The UK’s tallest stair climb challenge!

The evening of the 10th November saw the very first stair climb event held at The Leadenhall Building. At 48 floors, 1258 steps “The Cheesegrater’ is the tallest building in the City of London and was the setting of the UK’s tallest stair climb to date.

250 climbers registered for this very special event to raise money and awareness for The Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, including some elites and celebrities. The elites led the way and indeed it was the very first time of the day that proved to be unassailable as Mark Sims posted the only sub 7 minute climb of the day at a staggering 6:58.8, ahead of a second placed Martin Pedersen at 7:19.7 with amateur Adam Johnson in 3rd with 7:38. The UK elite, David Harris was back in 6th with 8:08.6.

In the women’s race it was a similar story with the very first two times of the day set by over celebrities Sophie Raworth and Susie Chan with times of 9:30.6 and 9:34 that almost lasted the whole day until they were finally beaten into 2nd and 3rd by Karima Hudson with a fantastic 8:50.6. Our very own Rachael Marsh representing Total Motion Events in 4th with a very respectable time of 9:38.8.

With all competitors enjoying fantastic views of London from the 48th floor of The Cheesegrater with a glass of champagne it was a fitting end to what was a fantastic event
