The Broadgate Tower Run Up 2018
Wow, what a day that was! As the dust settles after the third annual Broadgate Tower Run Up we reflect on what was an incredible day of stair climbing, a true festival of vertical running.
From the very start of the day with our Vertical World Circuit Elite races, through to the StepJockey corporate wave at the end of the day we saw nothing but commitment and determination from all of our participants, something that is truly inspirational as we see runners taking on their own particular challenges.
There were so many highlights, too many to mention them all, but there were several aspects that stood out for us.
Seeing two of our very own Total Motion Towerrunners on the podium, set the tone, helping to generate an incredible atmosphere. Mark Howard was just 5 seconds away from the leader, with Sarah frost going a place better, taking the win by 1 second, breaking her own course record in the process.
It's one thing for the elites to be racing up stairs, but there were so many others who were not racing for podium places, but purely to race against themselves in such an intense test of mind over body.
We still find it astounding that people sign up to climb the stairs multiple times, so those taking on the 1/4 vertical mile and vertical mile deserve everybody's respect. It was the fireman complete with full kit taking on multiple climbs that took centre stage, amazing to have them join us to raise money for the Fire Fighter's Charity.
Our younger climbers were brilliant - no fear, just attack the stairs...with the lure of jelly babies - their big smiles at the top, were lovely to see.
Finally our StepJockey corporate wave closed the event - a great group led by CEO Zarir Vakil - really practicing what they preach and giving an opportunity for clients to bring their challenges out of the workplace and in to a real life stair climbing event!!

Attention is already turning to The Broadgate Tower Run Up 2019 - We will be back with another great opportunity for all charities to come and join in the fun, and give their supporters something a bit different to challenge them. Of course we will have multiple climb options, giving more people the opportunity to join the mile high club! Stay tuned, those vertical mile spots went like hot cakes this year, and we're pretty sure they will again in 2019.
