The Total Motion Aquathlon - April 2017
The Total Motion Aquathlon made it's debut in the VonCrank London Senior Triathlon League with a real splash, selling out weeks in advance of the event proving hugely popular with previous Total Motion aquathletes as well as a new audience form London's triathlon clubs.
After a cold week in advance of the event the weather improved noticeably, bathing Tooting Lido in bright sunshine, though sadly not sufficiently to raise the temperature of the water, meaning the swim was wetsuit compulsory.
The event got underway right on time with our first competitor diving in at 7:15, and then participants entering the water every 10 seconds. Although a tight schedule the beautiful Tooting Lido, with it's 6m wide lanes allowed for easy overtaking, and the 90m lengths gave that real open water feeling.
Post swim our competitors headed out on their 7.3km run, 3 loops of Tooting Common, providing a real challenge and giving our participants an opportunity to enjoy the sunshine before finishing back within the grounds of Tooting Lido.
There was some great racing throughout the field, with the men led home by GB AG athlete and South London Harrier Gary Laybourne and the women's event being won by Christina Jenkins of Fun-On Tri who both received a Zondo Compression Top, KitBrix CityBrix Bag and entry to The Windsor Triathlon courtesy of Nuffield Health.
A big thank you to all our participants and especially our volunteers who made it all possible.
See you in 2018!
